Well, this might seem a strange topic for a first blog entry but given the emphasis of this Blog will hopefully be the wonderful and weird aspects of living an expat life, it does seem appropriate.
I've been living here in Vienna for the past 2.5 years and yesterday for the first time I heard the word 'Geisterfahrer' which translates literally as 'wrong-way driver'. Geisterfahrers are people who deliberately drive on the wrong side of the road - can you believe there is a specific word for this activity? - i.e can you believe this activity is so prevalent it has its own word?!!
Actually in Australia we do have a word for someone like this - 'dickhead'!
